ALWAYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO.

Friday already, I really don’t know where the weeks are going at the moment.  I can’t believe it’s already been 5 days since I was crying into my cereal on Monday morning.  Just kidding, I don’t have cereal, but jokes aside when we’re busy the time just flies by, but thankfully we are seriously getting stuff done!  Danny is working on some angled storage seating for Leamington Spa Neuro Rehab Hospital, whilst juggling the ordering of the many different colours of edging for the care home we are working on in Norfolk.  Owen is chomping his way through two reception counters, one for the Neuro rehab Hospital and one for the care home in Norfolk.  Both Dexter and Lee are working on fitted cabinets for the care home, which include bookcases, refreshments units, AV cabinets for a cinema room and drawer pedestals.  Josh has the task of making a nurse base for Warwick hospital, similar to one he worked on earlier in the year, but this time he is doing the whole lot.  Charlie is making some American White Ash table tops for a local pup, he will be moulding and finishing these to match some we have previously supplied.  Meanwhile I’ve been working on what seems like endless amounts of drawings trying to keep up with the guys in the workshop, quoting has slowed down a little, but still have produced two this week, one for some wardrobes and one for some more laboratory furniture to match what we produced recently.

INSTALLS.

We’ve also had a couple of installs this week, Dexter and I fitted some curved screens at Coventry University, he has been working on these for a few weeks so it was nice to get them fitted so the plasterers on site can plaster into them.

Don’t they look EGGSELENT………  I’m so very sorry.

Danny and I also popped over to Leamington Spa Neuro Rehab Hospital to take templates for the seating and servery and on the way back we met Owen and Josh on a job to install a couple of special pieces Danny has been working on.  These are off the back of a home office and fitted wardrobe we produced for a gentleman last year and earlier this year.  He has had a beautiful house built for him and his family and wanted some items to cover up the manifold to his underfloor heating and a secure cover for his outdoor TV.

The client gave me some ideas of the type of thing he wanted and I went away to produce a design.

My proposals for the TV Cabinet were as follows:

A marine ply open backed box with a top hung door which was to have gas springs to control the opening, closing and hold the door open. All clad with Western Red Cedar in a chevron pattern.

And the Manifold cover:

Oak veneered board surround and top with a graphite grey detail, this would hold two doors which are built with horizontal 9 mm veneered oak rails and a matching stiles on a graphite MFC board to give an effect of open slats.  The effect we were trying to achieve was a radiator cover that was in-keeping with its surroundings.

We had a successful morning fitting these pieces of furniture and the client was extremely happy.

Ready for the TV, good weather and barbeques!

The unit hides the manifold perfectly and is in keeping with the stairs and the rest of the room, while giving the impression of a fully fitted radiator cover the fronts just pull open when access is needed, we are extremely happy with the finish of both of these pieces.

AFTER THE BANK HOLIDAY

We are all going to enjoy the extra day off we get with Mayday but will be hard at it again next week!  I will be making a couple of site surveys for the next run of jobs and we will also hopefully be installing a really interesting one over in Nottingham.

Have a great weekend all!
Adam.
