As Christmas approaches once again, it feels like a good time to pause, take stock, and reflect on the year that’s passed at John F. White Ltd.
It’s been a weird year for us, not as busy as the past two years, but just enough to keep us ticking over. However, as I write this, we are producing furniture for three large care homes, a smaller care home, and a cookie shop, which is no small feat. Like most years, the run-up to Christmas has been full on, it’s been a slow but steady flow throughout the year, right up until November where all the order buttons were pushed at once. Those deadlines need to be met, that familiar sense of controlled chaos is upon us, the stress that comes with trying to get everything finished before the festive break.
That said, being busy is something we never take for granted. We’re incredibly grateful to have a strong order book and a steady stream of work, particularly in sectors where quality, reliability and attention to detail really matter.
Behind all of this is a hardworking and committed team who continue to pull together when things get demanding. Their effort, skill and flexibility throughout the year, especially during the final push towards Christmas, deserves real thanks. Without that collective effort, none of this would be possible.
Away from work, Christmas means something slightly different now. My daughter is now two, and seeing the season through her eyes, the lights, the decorations and the excitement has been a timely reminder of why switching off properly matters. Taking a break, spending time with family, and stepping away from the workshop for a couple of weeks helps reset the mind and body, ready for the year ahead.
As always, as of today, we’ll be closing the workshop for a short period over Christmas to allow everyone some well-earned rest. When we return in the New Year, we’ll be straight back into it, continuing work on our current projects and gearing up for what promises to be a much busier year.
Thank you to all our clients, suppliers and supporters for your continued trust and support throughout 2025.
From everyone at John F. White Ltd Cabinetmakers, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, successful New Year.
Have one for me!
Adam
