Bespoke Slat Walls with Flawless Finishes – Thanks to Our New Sander

I’ve just placed an order for a new machine, a wide belt sander! It does exactly what the name describes, it sands!

My father bought one 20 odd years ago (maybe 30…) At the time they were glueing up large bar tops in solid Oak and Mahogany and we needed a way of precision sanding long and wide lengths of timber. These days the pub trade isn’t what it was, I often joke that we fit more bars into care homes than we do into pubs and the traditional timber tops have largely given way for stone, laminate or solid surface materials.

So why invest in a new belt sander now? Because trends change. Slatted timber is all the rage now and here at JFW Ltd we are TOTALLY BESPOKE! So, if you want a slatted wall or counter front in Maple or Walnut we can make it happen, we aren’t restricted by off the shelf sizes or finishes you’ll find from online suppliers of slat wall panels, we’ll make it out of what ever you like and finish it to suit any colour or shade required. We can even coat with a fire rated lacquer.

The only challenge with these timber slats is the labour involved in achieving a high-quality sanded finish. The lads spend hours sanding each individual slat ensuring a silky smooth finish ready to take the coating. But not anymore, our new Sander will deliver the same precision finish in a fraction of the time.

It’s not just for slats either, the machine also has the capability to finely sand veneered boards, a huge advantage to us when working on projects which have veneered doors and end panels. Also, with the investments we’ve already made in a new compressor and dust extraction system over the last two years, the workshop is more than ready to get the very best out of this new addition.

We can’t wait to put our new sander through it’s paces! This is just another step forward, keeping John F White Ltd at the cutting edge of Bespoke Cabinetmaking.

Have a great weekend.
