LEISURE CENTRES

SPORTS INVESTMENTS

I must admit I haven’t researched it or even done a quick google search to see if there has been an injection of money into the sports and leisure industry, but judging by how things are for us at the moment there must be some kind of funding going on.  The image below shows one we did a couple of years ago in Matlock.

This was a very large counter which combined the check in counters for both the leisure centre and a soft play area and a Costa coffee!  To say that the shape was complicated is an understatement.  We had to construct recessed curves into angles which incorporated overhanging top boxes and gates!  Yes, it was as complicated as it sounds.  We also had to incorporate Corian solid surface tops.  This was a really great job for us, it took up most of our workshop while constructing but we impressed the client so much we have since gone on to do more work with them including some of The Dogs Trust works.

CURRENT PROJECTS

We are currently working on a counter for a leisure centre in Chard, Somerset, it will probably come as no surprise to you that this one is also an awkward shape, it starts on an angled wall and comes out at 22.5 degrees and the angles to 90 degrees then at 45 degrees to make it parallel with the wall behind.  This particular counter will have solid Oak battens fitted to a black front at 15 mm spaces.  The tops will be Oak veneer with a solid Oak lipping.  This has been quite a design focused project for us with lots of back and forth with drawings and designs for the architects, including a visit to produce templates and a floor position so that the builders know where to position entrance gates.

THE FUTURE

I have priced a few other leisure centres over the past few months and have submitted quotes for three this week alone!!!  So there is definitely some improvements being made within this sector!  Hopefully your local leisure centre gets a revamp!!!

Have a great weekend!

Adam.
