CARE HOMES
The past two years have been great for us in the Healthcare Sector, especially care homes, we’ve all being loving the different types of nice and interesting furniture that has gone into the various new and refurbished homes around the country. This next in Liverpool was for Kingsley Healthcare in Liverpool for an existing care home which they had purchased and needed to bring up to their high standard.
This was quite a large one which involved three floors worth of furniture including:
- A reception counter
- Nurse station counters to each floor (three in total)
- Refreshments unit
- Fitted bookcases to each floor (three pairs in total)
Plenty to get our teeth into and with a very short lead time…. We needed to get cracking!
OFF TO A FLYER
We know what we are doing on these by now, everyone has their job and they know the best way to do it. On this job Owen worked on the counters, Dexter built all the Nurse Bases, Lee had the mammoth task of building the Bookcase units and followed on with the refreshments unit, Danny as usual had to work out all the crazy lighting requirements and the different materials for the various floors. Meanwhile Josh and Charlie Worked on whatever they could to assist.
The hard work paid off, we were looking to meet our deadline of the end of July for the first batch of furniture.
NORTHBOUND
Owen, Josh and I left early on the last Monday in July to install the reception desk and a pair of bookcases on the ground floor, Traffic was horrendous to say the least, with closures, accidents, diversions and unreal volumes of traffic we arrived after a four hour journey. However the site manager was unaware of our plans and unfortunately was not ready, there was a misinterpretation of information somewhere, so all we could do was deliver the stuff and head for home. Frustrating but not much you can do.
IF AT FIRST YOU DON SUCCEED, TRY, TRY AGAIN
Three months later with all vans loaded with furniture and men we took the trip up to Liverpool to fit everything in the one day! A serious serious ask but “who dares wins” We split into Teams of two, Danny and Dexter were challenged with fitting all three Nurse Bases, Owen and Lee took on the first floor, which was the Reception counter and Bookcase’s and Josh and I were on the first and second floor bookcase’s. The first to finish would install the Refreshments unit. With an extremely friendly and helpful team of builders on site we worked hard to achieve what some would think impossible. It was a sixteen and a half hour day but to get it all done was worth it! Excellent team effort from the lads!
This is the third project for Kingsley healthcare, we have another ready to install in Colchester and we have just received an order for another one in Norwich. Long may it continue.
Have a great weekend.
Adam.
