As part of the recent refurbishment of the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at George Eliot Hospital, we were proud to design, manufacture, and install a bespoke nurse station desk tailored to the needs of a high-demand clinical environment.

Working to a tight refurbishment schedule, our team delivered this robust and functional piece of custom made hospital furniture — on time and within scope.

The desk was specially designed in-house with input from the hospital ward staff, ensuring it supports the fast-paced nature of the hospital ward. Its angled shape was achieved using high-quality ply formers, providing structural strength and long-term durability.

We clad the unit in MDF, finished with Formica laminates chosen for their resilience and ease of cleaning—crucial features in a clinical setting, also we were able to link the colours to the wards specific brand colour. The worktops were constructed from MDF and laminated in Egger Colour Core, giving a seamless, high-end finish with improved edge durability. The beauty of this product is it delivers the effect of a Corian reception desk at a fraction of the cost.

To support daily workflow, we included cut-outs for PC monitors and an integrated pigeonhole section—keeping high-use documents within easy reach and helping the nursing staff stay organised.

This project showcases not only our craftsmanship but also our capability to design bespoke hospital solutions that align with both functional and aesthetic requirements in healthcare environments.
